In early 2020 I came across Neo4j, a graph database vendor. I was very interested in trying it out for a new Forensic Analytics department I was standing up. But I was missing an easy way to integrate Neo4j into our existing data pipelines built with Alteryx.
I quickly found out Neo4j offered a Go SDK. By this time I had finished a mature beta of goalteryx, my Go SDK for Alteryx. So I proceeded to build custom tools that would allow me to easily integrate Neo4j with our Alteryx workflows. There are three custom tools which fit all of our requirements: an input tool, an output tool, and a delete tool.
With these tools we were able to quickly consolidate customer and vendor master data from dozens of ERP systems into a single graph database. This database has become indispensable to our daily life. Any time we need to look up subjects of investigations or identify related parties, we can run simple Cypher queries in Neo4j and identify all matching entities across geographies and systems. It's been a game-changer and one of the secret keys to our success.
More details about the Neo4j connectors, including the MIT-licensed open-source code, is available on GitHub.
